Help Training Explanations Hints
This is the Help narrative for the Create Menu Tab screen and Modify Menu Tab screen. You came to this screen from the Menu Tabs screen.
Menu Tabs are used to provide a way to organize Custom Data Fields. These fields are displayed and accessible on the Profile screen at the bottom of the screen. For example, Custom Data Fields that might apply to personal characteristics such as Gender, Marital Status, etc., could be organized under a Menu Tab called Personal. Custom Data Fields that might apply to church-related items such as Membership Status at Our Church, Date First Visited Our Church, etc., could be organized under a Menu Tab called Church.
The following will describe this screen if you came here to create a new Menu Tab. Further below, we will describe this screen if you came here to modify an existing Menu Tab.
Create (or Add) a New Menu Tab:
On the left side of this screen, there are three data entry boxes. To create a new Menu Tab, follow the instructions below for each entry box and then click the [Add Menu Tab] button. Clicking this button actually saves your work and creates the new Menu Tab. Your work will be lost if you do not click this button, and instead you first click the [Back to Menu Tabs] button which will return you to the previous screen.
Menu Tab Name:
Use this data entry box to give your new Menu Tab a name. The name can be up to 40 characters long.
This is a required field, you cannot leave it blank.
Title on Button:
Use this data entry box to indicate what word or words will label the Menu Tab when it is displayed. This should be just one or two words on a Tab you will want to keep it short so that it looks good on the Menu Tab. These Tabs could have labels such as the following: Personal, Church or Our Church, Committees, Classes, Education, Spiritual Gifts, Previous Church, and so forth.
This is a required field, you cannot leave it blank.
Description:
Use this free-form entry box to provide a description of this Menu Tab and how it will be used. Such information may be helpful on Control Panel screens where it is displayed, and although you may remember why you created this Menu Tab, others in the future may find it helpful to read your comments.
This is an optional field, you may leave it blank if you want to.
After entering data into the three fields above, click the [Add Menu Tab] button to save your work and return to the previous screen.
